  1. I can’t believe that American’s eat that many vegetables a year. Most of the people I know wouldn’t come close to that amount. Not suprized about the sweetners.

    • Well, the figure is based on pounds… and veggies contain a lot of water; so I imagine the amount is somewhat deceptive on that score.

      It also doesn’t exclude potatoes. As such, it would be easy for someone to consume a pound+ of “veggies” every day, in the form of – say – a large baked potato (or serving of fries), iceberg lettuce (typical salad), canned/frozen peas or corn and “condiment” veggies (pickles, olives, sliced tomatoes, mushrooms, onions), without consuming nearly enough of the more nutritious types.

  2. I guess your right. I did’nt consider the fact that it included potatoes. French fries and chips were probably a big part of the equation.
