A Week in the Life of a Restaurant Critic
This article in the New York Times gave me heartburn just by reading it. But at least he exercises… and also stays active during the day by walking, bicycling and taking stairs when possible.
It’s funny – I’d be willing to bet there are a lot of people who’d think Sam Sifton’s got the coolest job in the world. He gets to eat out all the time AND get paid for it! But uuuurrrrgh… I don’t think I could live like that, and I definitely don’t want to try.

It sure looks like a great gig. I couldn’t take it for long. When ever we plan a vacation, I always start thinking about all the meals we would have to eat at restaurants. It sounds like fun at first, but it turns into a pain.
I make the best choices possible, and maybe splurge once in a while, but it turns out to be a chore. Some places have great menues, others stink.
It is a good thing that he does stay active. If not I could see where he could easily add a few pounds to the frame.
All in all, give me the “home cooked” life.

I guess there’s no amount of muscle mass you could reasonably expect to put on to make your metabolic engine big enough to burn all that if you’re most people.
