Watch Your Step on the Treadmill!
This video on treadmill accidents seemed appropriate to post, given my own somewhat undignified fall earlier this evening.
No – it wasn’t a treadmill accident… fortunately. I just stumbled over something I didn’t see while I was out in the backyard. My daughter called me out to collar the dog, who was barking his fool head off at our next-door neighbors’ puppy. I walked outside still wearing my reading glasses – rather than take them off, I simply slid them down my nose a ways so I could look over them.
Big mistake.
I could see just fine over the specs, but – because the glasses blurred the lower half of my visual field – I managed to trip over an old stack of flattened boxes while walking towards the fence. No real damage was done… but it was a poignant reminder that falls frequently occur in familiar settings. I wasn’t paying attention and – to be blunt – set myself up for it by doing something completely stupid.
On that note: here’s the vid:
19,000 ER visits = a LOT of nasty falls! Like the man says, a treadmill requires “focus and responsibility” – so watch your step next time you use one.

You sure do have to be carefull on a treadmill. I don’t know how many times I have come close to taking a nose dive on one.
It’s usually caused by me not paying attention.
I’m glad your fall did’nt cause any serious injury. I know at our age we heal slower.lol

Ended up with a nasty-looking bruise on the heel of my left hand + a bit of soreness in the wrist. Kept me from benching or doing any pushing exercises for a couple of days, but it’s fine, now.
