Go Read Dr. Freedhoff’s Latest Post About Dr. Oz
Seriously: here’s a link to “A Tale of Two Oz’s” at Dr. Freedhoff’s blog, “Weighty Matters.” Good stuff – I really can’t add anything to it.
Dr. Freedhoff is dead right about the relative lack of studies on raspberry ketone for weight loss. Beyond the two “shaky” studies mentioned, there’s only industry-funded stuff like this. At this point, the evidence is pretty underwhelming, IMHO. So was my experience when I trialed some bulk RK from Nutraplanet.com a couple of years ago.
Sadly, it appears that raspberry ketone supps have been flying off the shelves, regardless of the lack of solid, peer-reviewed evidence. I was shocked by the high price tag of the product mentioned in Dr. Freedhoff’s post, and was going to mention some much-less-expensive alternatives in the comment thread. But in every single place I looked, the RK supps were listed as “out of stock” or “on backorder.”
Such is the power of Dr. Oz. It’s really kinda sad.

I used to think Dr. Oz was actually trying to help people, and maybe he was. Now it seems he is just trying to be a salesman. It seems like he has many followers as evident by the big increase of RK supp sales.
RK supps have been around for quite a while, Biotest Hot Rox for one. If it was so great you would think it would have become more popular by now.
It’s just another story of people looking for the “greatest thing” and following the Oz like a herd of sheep.
