Supply Side Wrap Up
I’ve spent a solid chunk of the last 48 hours behind the wheel of a (rental) car, so I’m just getting to this part now, even though the show wrapped up on Wednesday. But this was arguably the most interesting day of the three, so it’s worth recounting. There were two stand-out moments… The first was a talk by Carl Reynolds, a senior advisor in the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs at FDA’s Center...
Life Imitates Art (Again!)
The web site “This is Why You’re Fat” is clearly a joke… some of the concoctions are so outrageous, you just KNOW that they were invented solely for the purpose of getting them posted on the site. Nonetheless, there are times it’s tough to tell the difference between some of the “recipes” that appear on the site, and ones that actually appear on restaurant menus. Exhibit A: Cheesecake Filled...
I Won’t Take Manhattan…
I played hooky from Supply Side today, as I had a meeting scheduled with Rick (Collins) and James (Villepigue) at Rick’s law office in Mineola, NY. Rick gallantly offered to pick me up from NJ, but I declined… I preferred to make the journey myself. I Googled the directions – which seemed pretty straightforward – and was traveling during non-peak hours, so it didn’t seem like it would be any big deal....
The Strong & Shapely Gym in Rutherford, NJ is Truly Awesome!
Today was the first day of Supply Side East. It was all talks – the vendor expo doesn’t open until tomorrow. I took a peek at the preparations, though – looks like it will be pretty cool. I always like hitting the vendor displays – it’s a lot like “Trick or Treat” for grownups. Last show I went to, the Natural Products Expo in Boston, I came home with two sacks full of samples. 😉 I attended...
See You in 48 Hours…
…after I get settled into my hotel in Newark, NJ. I’ll be flying out first thing Saturday morning, so – needless to state – I’m racing the clock – trying to get my act together for a looooong road trip (10 days from start to finish). There just aren’t enough hours in the day… 🙁
More Obese Women in the US Than Previously Thought?
Maybe… if a new analysis based on body fat percentage rather than BMI holds up. U.S. guidelines determine who is obese based on body-mass index, a measurement of whether a person’s height and weight are proportional. The researchers found that about half the women of reproductive age considered obese under World Health Organization guidelines — which use body-fat analysis instead — were not obese under federal...
