“Death From a Bun”
I have to give Dr. Neil Barnard (of the vegan front group “Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine“) points for being a good sport here…
He had to have known that The Daily Show would poke fun at him. But I guess he figured that all publicity is good publicity.
The irony is that I actually share Dr. B’s distaste for hot dogs. But we come at this from two somewhat different directions. When I see a package of hot dogs, I see a food product with a negative nutritional impact. Hot dogs are high in fat and sodium, and low in just about every other nutrient that our bodies need from food. Yes, I’m aware of the studies linking processed meats (like hot dogs) to increased risk of colon cancer, but that’s just one more reason to avoid them. Dr. B., however, goes straight for the jugular, by comparing them to ciggies – which is pretty over-the-top. Unfortunately, that’s par for the course for the good doctor, which is why it’s hard to not giggle at Aasif Mandvi’s act.

That was well done! I also agree with the Dr. that hot dogs have no value. He goes a little more overboard than I would.
I’m not sure about the “Queen of Wein”.
