R.I.P. Jack La Lanne
I love this para from his obit in the L.A. Times:
No one — not even Arnold Schwarzenegger — could argue that LaLanne wasn’t the best. Schwarzenegger, who met LaLanne in the 1960s on Muscle Beach on the Venice Boardwalk, said LaLanne would try to see who could match him in numbers of chin-ups and push-ups.
“Nobody could,” Schwarzenegger told The Times. “No one even wanted to try.”
He was an original for sure… and had a rich, full life. We should all be so lucky – and so healthy.

La Lanne set a great example for all to follow. He worked hard and kept his life as simple as possible.
He will be missed.

I can recall my mom watching his show and doing some of the exercises during random efforts to lose weight. It seemed kinda hokey to me at the time (I was a kid, after all), but in retrospect, the show was pretty novel. He was one of the first to popularize fitness for both men and women.

We also used to watch it when I was younger, much younger. My mom would do the same, off and on. My brother and I used to just jump around a little.
Great and simpler times!!!
