Fat Trapper Fat Blocker Review: Does Fat Trapper “Block” Fat?

According to one Web site I found selling Fat Trapper…

“Fat Trapper™ bonds to fats and lipids, which are then discharged by the body. This bond is extremely strong and renders the fat non-absorbable by the digestive system, acting like a magnet and is 100% natural. Each capsule can stop fat from entering your blood stream. Excess fat is naturally eliminated undigested. Then your body can go to work on the fat stored by your body, helping to bring your weight down.”

This, according to the advertising, is all brought on by chitosan, the all-natural fat blocking and absorbing fiber derived from the shells of crustaceans.

Too bad none of the above statements are true.

Yes, chitosan has been studied for its possible use as a fat blocker. Unfortunately, the results were dismal. Although it does appear that chitosan can reduce cholesterol and blood lipid levels, a recent study confirmed that chitosan simply does not cause weight loss in healthy people (click here for confirmation!).

As if that were not bad enough, the Federal Trade Commission has taken action against the makers of Fat Trapper for making false and unsubstatiated claims about the product, as well as misrepresenting scientific studies. For this, the makers were forced to pay $300,000 in consumer redress.

Although a miracle substance that blocks fat might sound appealing, there are reasons why it wouldn’t be such a good idea.

For one, a true fat blocker could interfere with the absorption of fat soluble vitamins and minerals. Secondly, such a substance would not be able to differentiate between the blocking of bad fats (i.e., trans and saturated fats) and the good fats that you need (i.e., omega 3-6-9 polyunsaturated fats and healthy monounsaturated fats).

Therefore, the bottom line on Fat Trapper is quite simple. Avoid this product. The manufacturers have demonstrated themselves to be completely without morals or ethics of any sort — heck, at one time they were totally ignoring the FTC’s ruling and continued to advertise their product in a deceptive manner.

And of course, don’t forget that there’s little to no real evidence Chitosan is much good for weight loss.
