Welcome everyone!

Happy New Year!

What better time to throw off the shackles of the previous 365 days, and start again, fresh and focused on your goals.

And what are your goals for 2005? (Many experts emphasize the importance of setting, and then writing down your goals. This helps solidify them in both your conscious and your subconscious mind!)

Is it a new level of fitness? A commitment to regular exercise and eating better? Or is it, as it is for so many of us, a commitment to losing a few pounds?

Since this is the first issue of the New Year, I will introduce subjects near and dear to this theme -- a few new fat burner and diet reviews, as well as a short list of the most popular diets as dictated by you!

Ready? Let's get started...

New Fat Burner Review: Metabo Speed XXX

The folks selling Metabo-Speed XXX (doesn't this sound more like something you'd buy from a guy in a trenchcoat then a reputable fat burner?) are pretty inventive. After all, Metabo-Speed XXX is the fat burner Oprah Winfrey and Bette Midler took to lose all that weight, right?

Um, wrong. There's no evidence that Oprah really took this stuff. Sure, there's rumor and innuendo and reports in "major" magazines, but no evidence. And sure, Oprah has lost a ton of weight lately, but she did it the old fashioned way... through hard work. Through diet, exercise, and a commitment to looking and feeling better. I'm sure Oprah would not be impressed to have her efforts diminished by Metabo-Speed.

New Fat Burner Review: Xenadrine NRG

According to Cytodyne, the makers of Xenadrine NRG...

"Xenadrine NRG is the next generation in energy and weight loss products..."

And...

"Xenadrine-NRG is a revolutionary new extended-release energy supplement..."

While the jury's still out on the first statement, I like the fact that Cytodyne's new fat burner is time-released. Why? Well, in the face of the ephedra ban, Cytodyne is doing what many other fat burner manufacturers are doing...

Jamming their products chock-full of caffeine. Some products now contain 3 times as much caffeine as comparable formulas prior to the ephedra ban. Interestingly enough, I've found that many of these newest fat burners make me more jittery and nervous than the old ephedra-based products. So a time-release formula makes such caffeine-rich products (and Xenadrine NRG is such a product) a little more bearable.

New Reviews: Stop Cheating On Your Low Carb Diet

I've looked at two very good and very unique products over the last two weeks. The first is Jim Stone's Stop Cheating On Your Low Carb Diet. This is a great publication that delves deeply into the "why" you cheat on a diet, and offers concrete solutions for avoiding such occurrences.

I should point out... this is not a low carb diet -- Jim's intent is not to duplicate the material already documented in any of the top low carb diets -- Atkins, South, Beach, etc. This is for low carb dieters looking for concrete solutions for staying on their diets.

You might wonder how you could fill an entire publication on tips and strategies to avoid cheating on a diet, right? You might even wonder if such a publication is even necessary. Well, I can assure you, it is. Consider this...

A new study published in the Journal of The American Medical Association suggests that the real key to being successful on diet is not the type of diet you choose, but your ability to stay on it!

New Review: Become The Journey

I really like "Become The Journey". There are numerous reasons why this so -- it's very well written, it flows nicely, it contains a ton of very useful cutting edge information. As a teaching and learning tool, it can carry its weight against publication I've read. But that's not the main reason I feel so strongly about it. Nope, I like "Become the Journey" because it discusses something most diets skip altogether, or give only passing mention.

And what's that?

It's the "personal development" aspect of healthy living. It's about...

i) overcoming your fears and insecurities in order to succeed.

ii) tapping into your inner strengths to make a personal commitment, not to a diet -- but to a new and healthy way of living.

iii) setting goals tied directly to mind, body, and spirit (there is a powerful spiritual element to "Becoming The Journey") and then determining"why" that goal is important. This is a critical step -- if you can't come up with a powerful reason "why" your goal of losing weight is important, it's unlikely you will attain that goal, correct?

Top Diets/Diet Reviews for 2004

If you're looking for a plan to lose a few pounds in 2005, the following have proved the most popular with my visitors. First off, there's...

1) Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat

A little intense, but an amazing publication. I'd recommend it to almost anyone.

Read the "Burn The Fat" review!

In second place is...

2) Maximum Weight Loss by Gary Matthews

Nowhere near as intense as Tom's book, but a great publication regardless. A lot of you have really enjoyed this one!

Last is my own...

The Ultimate Fat Burning Diet Primer

I've never actually reviewed my own book (I suspect I'm probably not the best one to do so! :-). However, I recently wrote an article why I wrote it, and what I intended to accomplish with it.

You can read that article here!

That's all for this issue. Good luck attaining all your health, fitness, and weight loss goals in 2005!
